We just recieved an update about the sick harp seal that the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation rescued from the beach in Rockaway last week.
Here is what they had to say about their patient:
“Our patient is a bit camera shy…. He stays in the water which makes for challenging photo opportunities. The latest blood reports indicate that the multiple IV treatments and fluid treatments have worked in flushing his renal system and correcting his initial dehydration. We introduced him to fish today (force feed). I am hopeful that he will take the fish on his own tomorrow.”
Prognosis has been upgraded from critical to guarded.”
All the best wishes for his continued recovery. He is a very cute little guy.
